ABATE University - April 19th &20th

This weather has people looking for a sign of spring to cheer them up. Here’s one: ABATE University is right around the corner! Once again, the Holiday Inn, Alexandria, MN, is rolling out the red carpet to welcome bikers to ABATE U. This year the format has changed to allow attendees to hear two very special programs that will help Minnesota motorcyclists protect our rights and safety on the road. Just take a look at the schedule!

On Friday night don’t forget to bring your chapter and event flyers for display on the large information table in the courtyard. And check out the four (yes four!) brand new motorcycles that will be raffled off the next night. You did buy a ticket right? The courtyard area is a great place to see old friends and meet new ones. Stop by the ABATE Products room to pick up some new items and stick around for the always entertaining Motorcycle Riders Foundation fundraiser.

Saturday morning there is training for ABATE volunteers and also our Board of Directors meeting. And in the courtyard area will be the Motorcycle Safety Program’s “Smart Trainer”, a motorcycle simulator to test your skills.

Saturday afternoon and evening will be great starting with our annual “Guest Speaker Luncheon” featuring two ABATE members from Washington State. Their story is an insightful look into biker dedication, determination and, finally, victory over the decades old motorcycling discrimination practices in their state. It will surely be another "can't miss" event this year and only costs $8.50. Then our good friend Slider Gilmore will give his full three hour program to all in attendance. Slider has been inducted into two Motorcycle Hall of Fames and has received the prestigious Silver Spoke Award from NCOM. He is a gifted teacher whose mix of humor, positivity and inspiration come shining through to every member of the audience. You will not be disappointed!

The evening social starts with our fundraiser auction (remember to bring your donated items to the auction room during the day) and features the Fat Fendered Blvd Band. During the band break we will be giving away those four brand new motorcycles, two Harleys and two Victorys!

ABATE University is open to everyone and the seminars are free. You only pay for your hotel room and the Guest Speaker Luncheon (and your raffle ticket of course!) There are a limited number of rooms left. Contact the Holiday Inn soon to book a room. There is also an overflow hotel not far away.
