The American Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education of Minnesota (ABATE) Tri-County Chapter donated 20 Buddy Bears to Eden Prairie Fire Department Station No. 4 on June 21.

This was the first time the chapter has donated the bears to the Eden Prairie Fire Department. It has made similar donations to other fire departments including Belle Plaine and Chanhassen and organizations such as the Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women, said Leisa Carston of ABATE.

"We have purchased Buddy Bears and we deliver them to locations in our neighborhoods that would have a need to hand out a teddy bear to children under duress," Carston explained.

According to Carston, ABATE of MN "is a not-for-profit, grassroots organization that is committed to educating motorcycles and the general public about motorcycling." For more information about the group, visit www.abatemn.org.
