**IMPORTANT**
I have been asked about the security updates at the Minnesota State Capitol. New security measures have been put into place, but the Capitol remains very visitor friendly. Entry points have been reduced and the main entrance for visitors is the ground floor doors (below the front steps). There you will walk through a scanner. It is not a metal detector (and is safe for people with pacemakers), but takes an image that can see shapes that may indicate a weapon. If it sees what appears to be a gun or knife, etc., you may be asked aside. You will not be required to remove jackets, belt buckles or shoes. Bags and other things you carry will be run through a scanner conveyer belt.
To see the full list of security measures, go to: https://www.house.mn.gov/SessionDaily/Story/18864
To see the list of prohibited items, go to: https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/msp/state-patrol-dashboard/capitol-security-dashboard/plan-your-visit-mn-state-capitol
If you bring knives and/or illegally carried firearms you will, at the least, be asked to leave.
Hope this helps,
